Brown Returns Porzingis Shines

Celtics Rout Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of NBA Finals

Brown Returns, Porzingis Shines

The Boston Celtics took a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals with a convincing 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 on Wednesday night. Jaylen Brown, who missed the previous two games with a hamstring injury, returned to the starting lineup and made an immediate impact, scoring 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Kristaps Porzingis also had a strong game for the Celtics, finishing with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

The Celtics jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. They led by 12 at the end of the first quarter and extended their lead to 20 by halftime. The Mavericks made a run in the third quarter, but the Celtics responded with a run of their own to put the game away.

Luka Dončić led the Mavericks with 20 points, but he was not able to get much help from his teammates. Jalen Brunson added 15 points, but no other Maverick scored more than 10. The Mavericks shot just 38.2% from the field, including 27.3% from three-point range.

The Celtics, on the other hand, shot 50.6% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range. They also outrebounded the Mavericks 47-37 and had 21 assists to the Mavericks' 13.

Game 2 of the NBA Finals will be played in Boston on Friday night.
